Life in Copán Ruinas
In the northwestern part of the province of Copán just eleven km (seven miles) from the Guatemalan border is located the town of Copán Ruinas, which reveals its heritage with its attractive cobbled streets and picturesque adobe buildings. More recently Copán Ruinas has become a great and progressive travel destination that has superb experience in meeting the needs of international visitors and residents. The archaeological park, Copán Ruins, is referred to as the most artistically advanced and elaborate of all Maya cities, and was declared a heritage of humanity site by UNESCO in 1980.
Recent new archaeological discoveries and the remarkable natural patrimony of the Copán region draw attention to a community of well educated tourists. Service providers in accommodation, catering, ecotourism and other tourist related commercial activities are investing. A new airport is planned just 30 minutes from town. What this means is there's never been a better time to put down roots and invest in your piece of Copán.
